The Group Executive Committee is made up of members of the Group Scout Council who are charity trustees. They exist to support the Group Scout Leader in meeting the responsibilities of their appointment. While they administer the Group, fund raising is undertaken by a separate Social and Fund Raising Committee.
The Group Executive Committee is therefore responsible for:
The maintenance of the Group's property and equipment;
The raising of funds and the administration of the Group's finances;
The insurance of persons, property and equipment;
Group public occasions; and
Assisting with the recruitment of Leaders and other adult support.
The Group Executive should also include a parent of at least one Member of each of the Sections in the Group.

Adults in Scouting provide the skills, resources, support and encouragement to the young people to take part in a balance programme. Without the adults providing a good programme, we would not get the young people. After all, young people vote with their feet! We are always looking for adult volunteers, not only to be leaders but to fulfil a number of other roles within the Group. The Group Executive is there to assist with recruitment.
