Cub Packs have been part of Scouting since 1916. Throughout the organisation there are about 140,000 Cubs that make up 8,000 Cub Packs. At the 1st Hainault Cub Pack, meetings are held for an hour and 15 minutes on a Monday and a Thursday night at The Stockade. For more information, click here to contact us.

The Pack is made up of young members who have moved up from the Beaver Colony or those who would have joined Scouting for the first time. Cubs is fun and adventurous and a great place for friendships to be made.

Cub Scouts are aged between 8 and 10 and a half years old and abide by the Cub Scout law:

Cub Scouts always do their best,

think of others before themselves

and do a good turn every day.

As well as abiding by this law, Cub Scouts take the following promise to become official members of the Scout Association:

I promise that I will do my best

to do my duty to God and the Queen,

to help other people

and to keep the Cub Scout Law.

At Cubs, the focus is on fun, socialising and the opportunity to learn skills that the young people would not pick up elsewhere.

Uniform

As with being a Beaver Scout, Cub Scouts have a uniform. Their uniform is:

Green sweatshirt
Navy Blue Activity Trouser
Leather Scout Belt
All Terrain Activity Shoes
Group Scarf*
Cub Woogle*

*(Provided by the Group)

They will also have a woggle to keep their scarf up. This will be in the colour of the six that they are in. Click here to see how to wear the Cub Scout uniform. When the Cub Scouts meet together, they are a Pack. This Pack is made up a number of smaller groups called Sixes.

These can be purchased from Hargreaves Scout Shop, online and possibly from school outfitters. Hargreaves is a short distance from the Stockade and is located on Hainault Road, Little Heath, Romford, RM6 5SR and is open on Friday evenings from 7.15pm to 9.30pm and Saturday afternoons from 2.15pm to 5.30pm. Websites such as www.scoutshops.co.uk and www.mwarrens.co.uk are also very good. Decent all terrain shoes can also be purchased at stores such as Sports Direct.

The Group does not want any Cub Scouts to miss out due to financial reasons, so if you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to speak to us about them.

During their time as a Cub Scout at the 1st Hainault Cub Pack, they will take part in a number of activities which involve camping, playing games, being creative and exploring the outdoors. When they reach the age of 10, they move on to the 1st Hainault Scout Troops. Click here to find out more about Scouts.

If you want to take part in the adventure of Cub Scouting, either as a Cub Scout, or as an Adult Leader or assistant, then click here to contact us.
