When determining subscription fees, the Group Executive Committee took the following in to consideration:
This year’s membership fee to The Scout Association was £31 per member;
During the recent audit of camping equipment, it was identified that new tentage, cooking and general camping equipment was needed;
Compulsory training and resources for leaders/supporters in the Group needs to be provided and paid for;
Rates (water, electric and council rates) for the Stockade will need to be paid;
Ongoing consumables (badges, paper, pens, refreshments) will need to be bought; and
General upkeep of the Stockade – for example cleaning and equipment.
As you can see, subscription fees go a long way to support the day to day running of the Scout Group. The Executive Committee have been mindful not to increase subscriptions fees too much. Budgeting on our current membership of 60, our annual subscription income will be £6480, which will not leave of much of a contingency.
Subs are collected direct from your bank, building society or post office account by way of a Standing Order, at a rate of £11 a month with a one of joining ee of £15 per child. The Group also offers a 50% reduction of the standard rate for younger siblings who become memebers of the Group. This system benefits the Group as it requires no input from the Leadership thus allowing them to get on and run the programme but secondly it breaks the £132 payment in to more manageable chunks.
There is an option to pay the lump sum yearly by way of cheque. For further details on this method, please contact us for more information.

Last year we reclaimed £358.49 back from the HM Revenue and Customs under the Gift Aid Scheme.
When we updated our records at the beginning of the year we also handed the Groups new Gift Aid Declaration Form. If as a parent you are a UK Tax payer, please complete a form if you haven't already done so. That little extra that we can claim back can go a long way to providing better Scouting.
The 1st Hainault is aware that sometimes it may be hard to find the membership fees. If you find yourself in this situation, please talk to your Section Leader or the Group Scout Leader.
